About

Originally from the Midwest, Linnea Nelson earned a BA in English from North Dakota State University. Her undergraduate experience included studying writing at Leeds Beckett University in England.

Linnea worked as a journalist, and as an educator in France, before pursuing her master’s degree. In 2017 she received an MFA from Oregon State University, where she taught courses in composition and poetry writing.

Personal geographies and separateness within relationship are central themes in Linnea’s poetry; she’s fascinated by what people say when they speak to each other.

Linnea works at the University of North Dakota, where she is a doctoral candidate. She is Associate Editor for Cloudbank Books. In her free time, Linnea tends the tomatoes in her husband’s greenhouse.
